You must be wondering, why is this girl writing about Starbucks? Already a worldwide company, reaches to the corners of the world and has good drinks. Well, Starbucks around the world are different. I already knew this, but I wanted to try Starbucks in China. First, they have better drinks than the U.S. The U.S. only has normal coffee and a few teas, but China has these carbonated drinks and better tea. I decided to try out two drinks. One was a mango green tea and the other one was a pomegranate cold brew fizz. The mango was so good. It was the perfect blend of green tea and mango. It wasn't overly sweet as I feel like most of Starbucks drinks are too sweet. I don't know if the U.S has this drink, but I had never had it. Next, the pomegranate cold brew fizz. It sounded interesting and I love pomegranate. They had so many flavors of this including blueberry and peach fizz drinks which I have definitely not seen in the U.S. They were all one size, around a venti. Turns out, it is called fizz because they put sparking water in it to make it carbonated. I received carbonated coffee with pomegranate flavor. I was not a fan of the carbonation because I feel like carbonated coffee is just plain wrong. Next, it was a weird mix and too bitter for me. I couldn't finish it. I am also never getting cold brew again, so lesson learned with that one. I still want to try the peach one because I feel like that will be a little better. China has such cool options, but some are questionable. I still love Starbucks and it was nice to get a change from the menu in the U.S.

Five On Black in a great Brazilian restaurant that is know for their sauces. It is in the style of Chipotle where you pick a bowl size, rice, beans, meat, sauce and any toppings you want. I like it way better than Chipotle because it tastes better and is more healthy. My favorite thing to order there is the feijoada which is a bean and meat stew from Brazil. It is only in Colorado and Montana for now, but if you visit, defintely go visit. The locations are in Denver and 29th Street in Boulder. Go visit their website here: http://www.fiveonblack.com I went to this restaurant when I was in Florida. It sounded good, but burgers and sushi did not seem like a combination to me. Margot, Lizy and I tried it out because it looked good. We got bento boxes, calamari, and a burgushi. That right, a burgushi. A mix of a burger and sushi. I will get to that later. The calamari was amazing. It had a sweet and sour sauce poured over it and I will never eat calamari differently. None of that ketchup and mayonnaise with calamari crap. I want to learn how to make that sauce and pour it on everything. It was the perfect blend of the two flavors and neither was overpowering. Next, the bento boxes. It came with a mini burger, edamame, six pieces of sushi, fries, and cucumber. It was a lot more food than I was expecting. I got a normal California roll and there was nothing bad to saw. I would say that they put a lot of salt on the edamame, but I usually like things without salt. Now for the burgushi. It has burger elements in sushi form. It sounds strange, I know. I was skeptical at first, but once I tried it, I immediately knew why The Cowfish was so famous. We got a pulled pork burgushi with potato strings making up for sushi. It was so flavorful and not overpowering. I could have eaten ten plates of that. If you have a chance to eat here, I would definitely try it. The food turned out to be amazing and I wish there was one in Colorado. You can find them here: https://www.thecowfish.com Shannon showed me this restaurant and I am now officially obsessed with it. This restaurant is Korean food. It is a small restaurant in Boulder, close to 29th street. It has things like Korean bbq, bento boxes, tea and curry. It has vegan and vegetarian options as well as options for different kinds of protein. I went there for the first time last week and it blew my mind. It is not too salty, has a flavor for everyone and has good portions. I got the curry in mild and it has potatos, chicken, carrots and rice included. I also got the healing tea. It is a blend of many different teas meant to relieve stress and tension. It worked wonders. I didn't think a teat would make me feel less stressed, but it did just that. I usually don't like tea at all,but I enjoyed the flavor of that one. The environment of the restaurant is also on the relaxing side and makes you feel at home. The employees are all so nice and welcoming. The only complaint that I would have about this place is it is on the expensive side. I think it is all worth it though because the food is amazing. I wold definately rate it 5 out of 5. While I was in California, I had a meal of a lifetime. My sister got a private chef to cook for family and close friends during a Thanksgiving lunch. They came around 11 to get the meal started so that they would be ready at 12:30 when the guests came. It was very interesting to watch them. They roasted the vegetables first, then started working on everything else. The sauces and extras were already made and they just had to add them.
The first course was a seared tuna, aoli sauces, and saffron and cheese breadsticks. It was a great way to start off the meal with something light, but flavorful. I love tuna, so I wish I could have had 10 more pieces of tuna. Next was tuile, lobster and crab on top of a seafood broth. This one had great textures and a good portion. The third course was two kinds of squash, pumpkin seed brittle with fish sauce. It is such a weird combination and I would never think of putting those together, but the fish sauce made everything come together. It is a sweet and tangy sauce that has been reduced. The fourth course was a beef wrapped in a crepe and tied with onion in a kind of white sauce. This one I didn't like as much because it was a little dry, but the sauce was amazing. It was sour and sweet and matched the beef well. The fifth course was completely vegan. It was a bed of mushroom with roasted vegetables, wonton crisps, tomatoes, and edible flowers. This one felt the most healthy because it didn't have a lot of salt added, which I liked. There was raw mushroom on it and it was better than expected. The sixth course was risotto with uni on top. Uni is a very acquired taste, so you either love it or hate it. I personally love it. It didn't really match the risotto and the risotto was overcooked, but I love uni. It was their most poorly cooked course, but it was super filling. The seventh course was medium rare lamb with carrots in lamb sauce. The meat was perfectly cooked and this one definitely had the most salt in it. Overall, it was very good but a tad salty. The eighth course was my least favorite. It was inventive, but I didn't like the flavor very much. It was beet tartare with a fried quail egg, cured egg yolk, and crackers. The cured egg yolk was a good concept, but way too salty for me. The tartare was okay, but it didn't have enough flavor attached to it. Lastly was cake. It was my sisters' boyfriends birthday, so the cake was to celebrate. It was a chocolate cake and it was amazing. It is probably one of my favorite cakes yet and I have eaten a lot of cake. This meal was very inventive, fun and I loved it all overall. There were a few things here and there, but no one is perfect. It was definitely an experience that I will never forget. I have fallen in love with this ice cream place in California. They are super unique because they put sea salt in all of their ice cream and they have such amazing and one of a kind flavors. Some of their flavors are malt and cookie dough, birthday cake and blackberry, honey lavender and avocado and chocolate fudge. Their ice cream is super creamy and delicious. A little bit about them. The company was created in 2011 in Oregon when two cousins had the same career path and so they spend days perfecting flavors and made the company. The were both very spontaneous about creating the company and it is so cool that they decided to take the risk. It worked out very well for both of them since they now have scoop shops all over California, Oregon and Washington. If you are in any of these places, Salt and Straw is a place you must go! My favorite flavor is the cookie dough and a seasonal flavor they had which was lucky charms. I like this because they are always switching out flavors so you can try something new and you can add whatever toppings you want. The price is four dollars for a single and five dollars for a double. They also have a tasting flight where you can try all the flavors for 11 dollars. Go visit them here: https://saltandstraw.com/ I saw so many youtubers trying candy in their videos, so I wanted to do it, but I am too awkward on camera so I just tried it. I was just sitting on the hotel bed with candy and wrappers all around me. If I filmed it, it would be super cringy. I got a ton of different candy from the nearest store and I don't know if they are all over Europe, but I picked up ones that I had never heard of. I got Randoms, Galaxy Minstrels and a bunch of Cadbury candy. Randoms- I actually really liked this one because I love gummy candy. It had two or three different kinds of gummies and they were all good. My favorite was one that reminded me of a marshmallow. 4/5 rating. Galaxy Minstrels- This was basically a giant m&m. I expected it to taste amazing when I looked at it and it was amazing. It was super melty and the chocolate was a little bit nutty. My dad tried a couple of these with me and he liked this one the best. 5/5 rating. Cadbury Cream Egg Twisted- This was chocolate with cream inside. It was a thin layer of chocolate so it wasn't overpowering and the cream was better than I expected. It was really really sweet though. 3/5 rating Caramel- This is exactly what the name is. It is just a piece of caramel and I thought it was great. The caramel wasn't sticky or overly sweet. It was also a little nutty as well. 5/5 rating. Wispa- I was most excited for this one. It disappointed me though. It is basically a piece of chocolate with air holes in the middle. There wasn't anything special about it. 3/5 rating. Dairy milk- I thought this was going to be cool but it was literally a block of chocolate. Not even good chocolate. It was super hard to bite through and it was overly sweet. This was one of my least favorites. 1/5 rating. Twirl- This one was amazing and my most favorite. When I bit into it, it had literal twirls in it of different flavors. I didn't know you could fit so many favors into chocolate, but they did it. I couldn't stop eating it. 5/5 rating. Fudge- Everyone loves fudge. This tasted amazing and was exactly what I was expecting. It kind of tasted like the fudge that you get at mountain shops after you go hiking. 5/5 rating. Eclairs- I hated this one. I thought it was going to be super good and creamy, but it was gross. When I unwrapped it, it looked like a piece of caramel and nothing else. I tried to bite into it and couldn't. it was so hard on the outside that I thought about giving up and saying it was bad. I finally got through the caramel and there was chocolate on the inside. The chocolate was way to sweet and did not go well with the caramel. 1/5 rating.
I discovered this shop when I went to the mall. They are a little shop that makes mini doughnuts. They have all kinds of different flavors that all taste so amazing. When we went there, we got one of each flavor to try it out. It was so good and it was so amazing. The doughnuts are also so soft and taste so sweet. I personally love sweet's, so this was the perfect snack for me. It is pretty cheap too. Six was five dollars and 12 was 10 dollars. The flavors were from powdered sugar to blueberry lemon. There is something there for everyone. I went to this frozen yogurt place for the first time this week and I wish I had gone earlier. When I walked in, the environment was so bright and colorful that it immediately put me in a good mood. I looked at all the flavors and they were flavors I didn't even know existed. They had flavors like butter beer, matcha and apple pie. They also had a wide variety of toppings, hot and cold. Of course I tried out every flavor they had and it was amazing. It is so unique and cool. I would definitely come here every week if I could. |
